What is probability?
How likely something is to happen.
Many events cannot be predicted with total certainty. The idea of probability allows us to say how likely an event is to occur.

Tossing a coin
When you toss a coin there are 2 possible outcomes - heads (H) or tails (T).
We can say that the probability of the coin landing on H is 1/2 and the probability of it landing on T is also 1/2.
We can say that the probability of the coin landing on H is 1/2 and the probability of it landing on T is also 1/2.
Throwing a 6-sided Die
So what about a die? When a single 6-sided die is thrown, there are 6 possible outcomes: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6.
So the probability of the die landing on any of these 6 numbers is 1/6.
So the probability of the die landing on any of these 6 numbers is 1/6.
