Collecting data
When we carry out experiments in the lab we start off with a question that we want to answer. In order to answer that question scientifically, we need to make sure that we collect relevant data using a table and/or graph.
processing data
What do we do with all the data we collected?
Do these data answer our research question right away?
In order to "see" what is going on with the data collected, we need to "process" them first. This means that we can find the averages of the different trials we do, we can compare how the independent variable relate to the dependent variable and we can see what the data look like visually by transferring the data to graph form.
Now, we can use the processed data to answer our research question.
